For the Love of Beef

May is Beef Month and if you know me then you know I LOVE cows and am also pretty passionate about my love for food.  More specifically our own farm raised meat and veggies.

Fun facts (or funny to me anyway):

  1. I grew up on a farm and dreamed of getting away from it
  2. I was terrified of cows in my younger years
  3. When I met soon to be full time Farmer and Cattle Rancher Tom I didn’t even eat red meat

Fast forward through years of running away and now you’ll find my heart contently beating to the rhythm of the daily grind of farm life filled with cattle chores, calf kisses and craving a delicious farm raised rib-eye steak grilled to perfection over charcoal.

Lately the chores and bruises on my body seem to never cease now that we’ve had to switch things up a little by bottle feeding certain newborns but oh the joy and laughter that radiates from the barn.  I seriously almost peed my pants one morning not long ago from a situation involving a new calf and projectile poop splatters when Tom was trying to hand a new little guy over a gate to me.  You probably had to be there….but it was HYSTERICAL!

Farm life and cattle are keeping us incredibly busy this year so I thought I would take a few moments to just share a few photos from over the years involving the livestock and farm to table beef we have raised.

And if you are able to purchase beef from a local farmer I highly encourage you to do so!  You’ll probably never want to go back to store bought meat ever again!
