Your Long Lost Name

The days are long, and the troubles never slow

I find myself at the bottom of it all

Broken down, a thirst too deep to taste

I’m searching for an answer in an old familiar place

In the quiet, I can hear your pleading call

§§§

Set the bottle on the table, pull the bible off the shelf

Place your arms around your children, put your trust in something good

Don’t back down, push the doubt back out the door

Stand up and face the devil before the Glory days are gone

Don’t let the darkness seize you and pull you down that hole

There’s a place where He serves mercy if you just walk down that road

§§§

The thirst is never quenched, the pain is never faced

I take my heart and tuck it in an old familiar place

I don’t want to face the music, I don’t want to face the shame

With a heart of shards it’s too damn hard, I’ll drink to ease my pain

In the quiet I can hear you now….

§§§

When you left me I was numbed by the endless of many pains

I turned to darkness just to live through each and every day

Yesterday I heard the sound of your long lost name

Time stopped and I fell inside the darkness again

§§§
